British company Nifty has invented a new product, the Xoo Belt, which carries flexible batteries that can charge your smartphone on the go. Of course, the belt will also keep your pants cinched around your waist.
The Xoo Belt contains 2,100 mAh of battery capacity. That is split between a 1,300 mAh lithium ceramic polymer flexible battery between the two layers of leather, and a 800 mAh battery in the buckle. A mini-USB cable is attached to the belt via magnets. When you want to charge your phone you simply pull out the USB cable and plug it into your phone. Then place your phone in your pocket and you are recharging on the go.
The Xoo Belt itself can be recharged in about 3 hours, and the Xoo Belt can recharge your phone in about 3 hours as well. The belt’s battery life is indicated by 5 LED lights on the buckle that work as a battery gauge.
The Xoo Belt has a detachable belt buckle which will allow for changing the style of the belt at a later date. After all, some days you need a brown belt and other days you need a black one.
The Xoo Belt is currently running a campaign on IndieGoGo with the goal of raising $50,000. $155 will get you a belt, and the company has promised to start shipping by July 2015.
