Now that the Oculus Rift and its ilk are becoming the hot new tech accessory in places all over, companies are rushing to bring the next cool virtual reality idea to fruition. Take the Nautilus VR, for example, which promises underwater virtual reality. The benefit is that it can be used when you’re actually underwater. Basically, you just get in a pool, or even your bathtub, put the waterproof headset on and dunk your head underwater. From here, you can experience a bunch of different undersea environments. Plus, you get the additional physical sensation of being in water to greater immerse you and improve the overall experience.
Obviously, the headset has a snorkel so you don’t drown yourself. Although, the disorienting nature of VR headsets in general might take a little getting used to at first. Nautilus is also committing to environmental initiatives by supporting marine life preservation through the making and profit of the device.
The Nautilus VR isn’t available yet, but is currently on Kickstarter to raise funding for completion. It’ll be hilarious to see consumers in the future bumping into each other in public pools while using these things.
